♻️ BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE EQUIPMENT:

The design was developed at the Kirov Plant design bureau beginning in November 1943, and in April 1944, work began on two prototypes of the Project 701 tank. In 1944, the design was revised and refined, and in the winter of 1945, two more prototypes were tested. Project 701 No. 5 was recommended for adoption in conjunction with the start of serial production of the IS-2 tank. However, after production of the IS-3 began, serial production of the tank did not begin. After IS-2 production was suspended in 1946, IS-5 tanks were accepted into service with the Soviet Army. In 1949, production of the ISU-4 ceased. In 1950, 25 new ISU-4M tanks were produced. All of these tanks were subsequently modified and used in the Far Eastern theater of war.
