Supraland is a first-person Metroidvania puzzle game inspired by Zelda, Metroid, and Portal.
Supraland assumes intelligence and allows for independent play. The minimalist plot presents a common goal before granting you freedom. Game Length: ~15-30 hours
Metroidvania
You explore a large, interconnected world, most of which are initially impassable until you discover new abilities to overcome these obstacles. A cornerstone of Supraland's design was to create abilities so versatile that they would surprise you with their diverse uses. Combining abilities opens up even more possibilities.
Exploration
Much of the game is spent exploring the sandbox world, searching for secrets. It often feels like you're about to break free and defeat the level designer, only to discover a chest containing a valuable upgrade.
Puzzle Design
The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll encounter unique and unconventional puzzles that force you to pause and consider your abilities and how they can be used in new ways. Puzzle types I already knew from other games were immediately discarded during development. It's important to me that once you understand the concept of a puzzle, you can solve it almost immediately, rather than wasting time on a cumbersome and tedious solution.
Combat
The combat mechanics are inspired by old, fast-paced shooters like Unreal Engine, Doom, and Quake, and encourage quick attacks and jumps, firing at hordes of advancing enemies without worrying about reloading.
