The plot of the second part, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, takes place in 1899. Oswald Mandus, a wealthy industrialist, awakens in a feverish delirium from a dream in which he is haunted by nightmares about a diabolical machine. The hero is tormented by terrible visions, and remorse and tropical fever after a trip to Mexico only worsen the situation.
