The fight for survival continues as 1989 comes to an end. Hope of finding the missing population has begun to fade as you and your friends continue to do your best to stay away from the invading machines and comb abandoned buildings for weapons and equipment. However, recent reconnaissance missions you've conducted on your own and with friends have yielded unexpected results - structures that appear to be made by FNIX machines have begun appearing along the southern coast of Östertörn's mainland. Fortunately, it appears that there are survivors scattered across the southern coast, archipelago, and farmland that are resisting the invaders.
ALTERED LANDSCAPES
As your path leads you back to this previously explored area of Östertörn, you discover that the machines have been busy repurposing the landscape to suit their needs. Massive walls that make up fortifications, ominously glowing generators, and overhanging cable networks are just some of the structures you've seen as you make your way through the area. The nearby towns lie in ruins as the harvesters have stripped away any resources that could be of use, leaving only the shells of the buildings that once stood there. It is unclear what FNIX is planning, but whatever it is, it can't be good.
RESISTANCE GROWS
Your return to the Archipelago and Farmlands regions has also given you a glimmer of hope, as you come across clear signs of human resistance. Where you previously associated the region primarily with the telltale signs of military and machine struggles in the early days of the invasion, with cities left in ruins, destruction and death everywhere you look, you now find humans who have managed to survive against all odds. Groups of survivors have managed to take refuge in key locations, using strategic positions to stay safe and inflict maximum damage on hostile machines. However, their hold is always tenuous at best, and the enemies are relentless in their attacks.

There’s more than just a change in scenery in the South Coast and Farmlands regions, so keep an eye out for new collectibles and clothing as you explore, as well as new achievements you can unlock.
ADDITIONAL GAMEPLAY FEATURES
MELEE WEAPONS
In the thick of battle, you never want to find yourself out of ammo. One mishap could break your team or leave you dodging bullets while desperately trying to get out of a bad situation. So keep your eyes peeled for Bit-Brannballs and Sledgehammers as you explore the countryside of Östertörn. These more primitive weapons are perfect for stunning an unprepared Hunter or simply smashing an onrushing Tick into tiny pieces.
APOCALYPSE CLASS HARVESTER
It seems FNIX has been busy building more than just the structures on the South Coast. Sightings of Apocalypse Class Harvesters have confirmed your fears, and while they seem to primarily focus on harvesting resources around new buildings, they have been known to infiltrate other parts of the mainland as well. Usually accompanied by other Apocalypse Class machines, they are also formidable in their own right, and have been known to deploy Bio-Aerosol or even Dirty Missiles if you try to ambush them.
