Lies of P is an action/RPG with Souls-like elements and a third-person perspective. The game takes place in the gloomy city of Krath, inspired by the Belle Époque. The player controls an android named Pinocchio, who must explore the city, battle biomechanical enemies, and make decisions that influence the story.

At the beginning of the game, you can choose one of three combat styles, which determine your starting stats and weapon type. Your arsenal includes swords, axes, and other weapons, as well as a mechanical arm that can be equipped with various gadgets, including a grappling hook and flamethrower. Weapons are subject to wear and tear, but they can be repaired and upgraded.

The game features a crafting system that allows you to combine weapon parts and create new combinations with unique stats. The player can swap out Pinocchio's body parts, gaining access to additional abilities. Combat requires careful stamina management, parrying attacks, and using both light and heavy attacks.

After death, the character respawns at the nearest checkpoint, losing any valuables collected, which can be recovered by returning to the place of death. Checkpoints are also used to upgrade stats, change equipment, and fast travel.

The game has received positive reviews for its visual style, atmosphere, and sophisticated combat system, and offers additional content in the form of DLC, expanding the story and adding new bosses.
