The game takes place on the Western Front from 1914 to 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history, inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916.
Verdun is the first multiplayer first-person shooter set in a realistic setting of World War I. It was with this game that the series of games about the First World War began. The brutal nature of trench warfare means that mastery of the bayonet can be as important as marksmanship with a rifle.
The game offers 4 different game modes with a host of historically accurate features, such as realistic WWI weapons, authentic uniforms, horrific gore scenes, and maps based on real battlefields in France and Belgium. In the fast-paced Frontline mode, 64 players take turns trying to capture the enemy's trench line.
