About the game:

"9 Years of Shadows" is a side-scrolling Metroidvania from Halberd Studios. Journey with Europa, a brave warrior determined to infiltrate the mechanical giant Talos and stop the corruption growing within before it engulfs the world in darkness. Battle corrupted creatures, meet charismatic musicians, and uncover the truth behind the curse that has stripped the land of all color.

Many have attempted to penetrate the twisted depths of Talos, a lifeless fortress where several civilizations have settled over the centuries. And having lost everything she holds dear, Europa can no longer attempt what others have failed. As a noble warrior refusing to succumb to the curse, she must infiltrate the castle, find the source of the corruption, and restore color once and for all.

Europa will not embark on this adventure alone. Inside the giant, she befriends Apino, a cute flying bear who seems to possess magical powers to restore the color and health of his allies. He can also protect his companions from the many dangers that lurk within the corridors of Talos.
As she explores the castle, Apino can cleanse Talos of its corruption and fire various projectiles capable of destroying dark crystals and dealing damage:

A fist that, when summoned, strikes upward.
An explosion that travels along the surface before colliding.
A cyclone that returns to Apino like a boomerang.
Use the elements to your advantage to dynamically navigate the map. Acquire elemental armor, once considered treasures of ancient civilizations, and swap it on the fly, unlocking special abilities to navigate your path: from swimming over waterfalls to traveling through underground tunnels or gliding on warm air currents.

Harness the power of lightning, water, earth, and fire. Surprise bosses by swapping armor, performing powerful halberd combos, and exploiting enemy weaknesses to carve your way through the heart of shadows.
Music is, arguably, the soul of the game. Bring the world to life with Miguel Hasson's touching soundtrack, as well as soothing 432Hz tracks by renowned composers Michiru Yamane (Castlevania series) and Norihiko Hibino (Metal Gear Solid series). Meet these guest composers as playable characters who assist Europa in her quest throughout the game.

Music is the connecting thread between gameplay and narrative: collect musical notes and sing a healing lullaby to restore your health.
