The life of a young rat named Matt, who lives with his friend Toby in an abandoned wine cellar, is turned upside down when he manages to fall head over heels in love with Nat, a smart house mouse, from one of the upper floors of the house occupied by Big Men.
Overcome with love, Matt decides to embark on a dangerous journey to become a real Scavenger, because this is the only way he can sneak into the upper floors and meet his beloved. And even though they come from different worlds, in addition to love, they are united by a dream – to escape from home and start a new free life away from the Big Men and the rat pack. But the rest of the basement's inhabitants have their own plans and secrets, and because of Matt's recklessness, not only the plans, but also the couple's lives are in danger.
