Carcassonne is a modern classic tile-placing game based on the award-winning game in which players draw and place tiles depicting a southern French landscape. Tiles can depict a city, a road, a monastery, a meadow, or a combination of these. Tiles must be placed adjacent to previously played tiles, connecting cities to cities, roads to roads, and so on. The player can then choose to place one of their followers, called meeples, on one of the spaces within it: a knight on a city, a bandit on a road, a monk on a monastery, or a farmer on grass. Once that space is completed, that meeple earns its owner points. Each new game is a new experience thanks to the constantly changing landscape.

During a game of Carcassonne, players face decisions such as: "Should I place my last meeple there?" or "Should I use this tile to expand my city or place it next to my opponent, making it harder for them to achieve their goal and score points?" Because players place only one tile and can place one meeple on it, turns move quickly, even though the game is full of options and possibilities.
