- This is a real-time strategy game with an active pause, in which your task is to survive by fighting off hordes of enemies. You find yourself in a medieval fantasy world, and only your choice can decide its fate.
You're trying on the role of a lord from a backwater fief in Samrania. A lord who constantly gets involved in battles against his will. Build fortifications, assemble an army and feel like a real military commander in battles of unprecedented scale. More than 25 thousand enemies will storm your castle, and you will have to defend it over and over again. But military force alone is not enough. To survive, you will have to master the basics of economics, engineering, and even magic.
THE LAW OF WAR
Your king is a powerful and powerful leader. He's also an egocentric pig. He loves horses from the Gorgot Empire, drinks, and generally just spends his life. But economic decline set in, the treasury emptied, and the fun came to an end. And this is a big problem. And yours. Because the peasants, who don't like the increased taxes and hunger, have raised a riot in your fief. The king demands that you put down the rebellion and quickly sail to the neighboring continent for gold. (Rumor has it he's in there.) Will you fulfill the will of your overlord and go on a treasure hunt? Or will you overcome social differences, join the brutal rebel leader and bring the tyrant to justice? Will you support the aborigines of an Unknown continent? Or maybe put aside human ambitions and act as the commander of the undead army? The answer is yours. One thing you can be sure of: no matter which faction you join, blood will be shed anyway. And legions of archers, swordsmen, siege guns, knights and many other soldiers will be by your side, ready to give their lives in order for you to achieve your goal.
LAWS OF PHYSICS
You can hardly call “Diplomacy is Not an Option” a serious game, but it doesn't mess with the laws of physics. The flight patterns of each arrow, catapult projectile, and enemy warrior thrown up by the explosion have been worked out with all care. Shooters stationed on towers and fortifications have blind spots. Thus, what is happening on the battlefield feels holistic and believable. For survival, it is necessary to think over the arrangement of fortifications, lines of defense, and reserve positions. Don't forget to keep an eye on the city gates as well. After all, if you leave them open, anyone can get into your settlement. Proper use of physical laws will allow you to squeeze the most out of your subjects and ultimately restrain the onslaught of the enemy.
THE LAWS OF SOCIETY
Even in wartime, a true lord does not forget that his castle is built on the hump of his subjects. Protect your people, and they will serve you faithfully. Harvest and fish, because if there is a shortage of food, soldiers may starve to death. And to prevent an epidemic, treat infected citizens in a timely manner and bury the dead, because the spread of infection occurs quickly. Moreover, the dead do not stay in this state for long, unless they are pressed down by a two-meter layer of soil. And what kind of lord would want to see a zombie apocalypse in the backyard of his castle? Only a feudal lord who truly cares about the population will be able to cope with any troubles. From empty warehouses and damaged fortress walls, to the plague and the invasion of the undead.
THE LAWS OF ECONOMICS
Maintaining an army is an expensive pleasure. You will need competent resource management to ensure that every soldier is trained and equipped. Food, wood, stone, iron, and gold are the foundations of the settlement's economy, so you need to keep an eye on their reserves and production. Only then will your city prosper. Collect resources, research technologies, find new deposits, expand your city from a small village to a huge metropolis. The enemy will not give you land for nothing, so it is important to ensure the safety of all your lumberjacks and miners. If you do not have enough food to feed the overgrown population, you can always solve the problem with trade and arrange an emergency supply by airship. Will you be able to maneuver between expansion, security and the development of the city?
THE LAWS OF MAGIC
Strong castle walls will protect you from most common threats, but what about the undead? Where there's undead, there's magic! So why give them a monopoly on dark art? Learn magic yourself and trap the souls of your fallen enemies. There are few spells in the game, but using any of them can change the course of a battle. Build magical obelisks and collect soul crystals. Let yourself go, practice the villain's maniacal laughter, watching as the astral ray mows down the enemy's army, meteorites fall on the enemies' heads, and the dark knights you have summoned finish off those who for some reason survived the previous two misfortunes. And don't forget to use a real–time pause - this "magic" is always available to you!
OUTSIDE THE LAW
Diplomacy is Not an Option, unlike many RTS, is based on the Player's freedom of action. Go beyond the missions of the single-player campaign and destroy the enemies as you like. In Endless Mode, Sandbox mode or Challenge mode. Develop new strategies on procedurally generated maps. Create countless armies of cannon fodder or come up with your own goals.
