Gothic 1 Remake is a remake of the cult role-playing game from 2001, created by the studio Piranha Bytes.
The action takes place in the fantasy kingdom of Myrtana, which is besieged by hordes of orcs. To fight them, you need magical ore - a rare resource that is mined in the Valley of the Mines on the island of Horinis.
In order to speed up the extraction, King Robar II orders the convicts from all over the kingdom to be driven to the mines. To prevent escape, he asks the mages to create a magical barrier that will only allow the living to enter. However, during the installation of the barrier, the spell goes out of control - the dome grows in size and absorbs the entire Valley of the Mines.
Not only the convicts, but also everyone who was nearby: wizards, orcs, guards and ordinary civilians are imprisoned. The prisoners rebel, take over the colony, and split into three factions, each of which seeks to break through the barrier and escape.
