In 2013, the world was devastated by a global catastrophe that wiped out the population of Earth and turned its surface into a poisoned wasteland. A handful of survivors found refuge in the depths of the Moscow metro, and human civilization was plunged once again into the Dark Ages.
The year is 2033. An entire generation of people was born and raised underground, watching as their besieged Metro Station Cities fought for survival against each other and the nightmarish mutants that awaited them outside.
You are Artyom, an ordinary Muscovite, born before the global apocalypse but raised underground. He had never left the confines of his now-home Metro Station, but fate had its own plans. Now he is forced to fulfill the mission of his life: reach the center of the Moscow Metro and warn the remnants of human society of the coming danger, or die en route and condemn the survivors to certain death.
