Project Zomboid is an open-world zombie survival game developed by The Indie Stone. It focuses heavily on realism, exploration, and long-term survival rather than simply fighting hordes of zombies.
You play as a survivor in a fictionalized version of Kentucky, after a zombie outbreak has devastated society. Your goal is essentially to survive for as long as possible.
Key features
🧟 Zombie survival: Zombies are dangerous individually and overwhelming in groups. Noise, visibility, and your actions can attract them.
🏠 Scavenging & looting: Search houses, stores, warehouses, and abandoned vehicles for food, weapons, medicine, tools, and other supplies.
🛠️ Deep crafting and skills: Cook, farm, fish, build structures, repair equipment, forage, tailor clothes, and develop numerous character skills.
🧠 Realistic survival: Hunger, thirst, exhaustion, injuries, illness, stress, panic, and even boredom can affect your character.
🌎 Persistent open world: The world changes as time passes. Electricity and water can eventually shut off, food spoils, and your surroundings become increasingly difficult to live in.
☠️ Permadeath: When your character dies, they're gone. You can create a new survivor and potentially encounter your previous character as a zombie.
👥 Multiplayer: You can survive cooperatively with other players, sharing a base or trying to survive together.
🎮 Sandbox customization: You can adjust zombie populations, loot abundance, survival settings, character traits, and many other aspects of the game.
