In Civilization VI's second expansion, Gathering Storm, the world around you will come to life.
Advanced technologies and engineering projects, participation in the World Congress, and engagement with the global community on key issues will help you on your path to victory.

• NATURAL PHENOMENA: Volcanoes, storms (snowstorms, sandstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes), climate change, floods, and drought.
• ENERGY AND CONSUMABLE RESOURCES: Strategic resources take on a special role in the Gathering Storm expansion: they now fuel power plants and are used to generate electricity in cities.
• ENGINEERING PROJECTS: Change the world and conquer nature. Build canals, dams, tunnels, and railroads. When establishing new cities, consider the risk of coastal lowlands flooding. On the other hand, in the late game, new technologies (such as seawalls) will help protect the coast from the elements.
• WORLD CONGRESS: Make your voice heard around the world. Earn diplomatic favor by forming alliances, influencing city-states, and participating in the World Games.
• 21st-Century Technologies and Civics: A new era has been added to the tech and civics tree. Future technologies, such as sea settlements and carbon capture, will help you survive natural disasters.
• New Leaders and Powers: Nine leaders and eight powers have been added. Each leader and civilization has unique advantages and a distinct playstyle. Nine unique units, four buildings, three improvements, two districts, and one governor will also be added to the game.
• New Scenarios:
- Black Death – The Black Death, which ravaged Europe and the Middle East in the mid-14th century, claimed more lives than any other event in human history. The pandemic killed millions, wiped out entire countries, and brought to an end ruling dynasties. European civilization was forever changed.
- "War Machine" – On the eve of World War I, the German General Staff devised a daring plan: to invade neutral Belgium and from there strike at the heart of France, preventing it from mobilizing.
• NEW CONTENT: Seven new world wonders, seven natural wonders, 18 units, 15 improvements, 9 buildings, 5 districts, 2 city sets, 9 technologies, and 10 civics have been added.
• IMPROVED GAMEPLAY: The espionage system has been expanded with new variants, the conditions for cultural and scientific victories have been adjusted, new historical moments have been added, and changes have been made to existing systems.
