Advance toward victory through cutting-edge technologies and engineering projects, participation in the World Congress, and engagement with the global community on key issues.

• ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS: Volcanoes, storms (blizzards, sandstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes), climate change, floods, and droughts.
• POWER AND CONSUMABLE RESOURCES: Strategic resources play a vital role in *Gathering Storm*; they now fuel power plants and generate electricity for your cities.
• ENGINEERING PROJECTS: Shape the world and tame nature. Construct canals, dams, tunnels, and railroads. When settling new cities, consider the risk of coastal lowlands flooding; however, in the late game, new technologies (such as flood barriers) allow you to protect coastlines from the elements.
• WORLD CONGRESS: Make your voice heard by the entire world. Earn Diplomatic Favor by forging alliances, influencing city-states, and participating in the World Games.
• 21st-CENTURY TECHNOLOGIES AND CIVICS: A new era has been added to the technology and civics trees. Future technologies—such as seasteading and atmospheric carbon capture—will help you survive natural disasters.
• NEW LEADERS AND CIVILIZATIONS: Nine leaders and eight civilizations have been added. Each leader and civilization offers unique bonuses and playstyles. The game also introduces nine unique units, four buildings, three improvements, two districts, and one governor.
• New Scenarios:
- "The Black Death" – Rampaging across Europe and the Middle East in the mid-14th century, the Black Death claimed more lives than any other event in human history. Millions perished, entire nations vanished from the map, and ruling dynasties were extinguished. European civilization was changed forever.
- "War Machine" – On the eve of World War I, the German General Staff devised a daring plan: invade neutral Belgium and strike at the heart of France before it could mobilize its forces.
• NEW CONTENT: Seven new Wonders of the World, seven Natural Wonders, 18 units, 15 improvements, 9 buildings, 5 districts, 2 city sets, 9 technologies, and 10 civics have been added.
• ENHANCED GAMEPLAY: The espionage system has been expanded with new options, victory conditions for Culture and Science have been adjusted, new Historic Moments have been added, and existing systems have been refined.

Activation
1. Download and install Steam from http://steampowered.com/download/SteamInstall.msi (if not already installed)
2. Launch the Steam client
3. Create a new Steam account or log in to an existing one
4. Go to the "Games" section and select "Activate a Product on Steam"
