SILENT HILL f is a psychological survival horror game by NeoBards Entertainment Ltd. and KONAMI, opening a completely new chapter in the famous horror series. This time, the action is set in 1960s Japan for the first time. The main character is a schoolgirl named Hinako Shimizu, who lives in the small mountain town of Ebisugaoka. The girl’s ordinary life is shattered when the streets are suddenly shrouded in a thick fog, the residents disappear, and familiar places begin to turn into a frightening and surreal nightmare.

SILENT HILL f tells a self‑contained story, so there’s no need to be familiar with the previous parts of the series. The plot was written by Ryukishi07, known for Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry. The story revolves around doubt, regret, societal pressure, and Hinako’s difficult decisions. The game constantly makes you wonder whether the events unfolding are real, a manifestation of the heroine’s consciousness, or something related to ancient local beliefs.

Exploring Ebisugaoka is an important part of the playthrough. The familiar streets gradually become distorted under the influence of an unknown force, and grotesque creatures appear amidst the fog. Hinako has to look for safe paths, explore the surroundings, find the necessary items, and solve complex puzzles. The atmosphere is built on the contrast between beauty and revulsion: flowers, traditional Japanese motifs, and picturesque landscapes coexist with unsettling images and bodily horror.
