The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me is a cinematic psychological horror game by Supermassive Games, in which the crew of a documentary show finds themselves trapped in a deadly hotel. Five employees of Lonnit Entertainment receive a mysterious invitation to visit a modern replica of the famous “Murder Castle,” which is associated with the American serial killer Henry Howard Holmes. For a team experiencing creative and financial difficulties, the trip seems like an opportunity to shoot sensational material. However, the journalists soon realize that they have been lured into a carefully prepared trap, where every corridor may hide a new threat.

The action takes place at the World's Fair Hotel — a huge complex with intricate corridors, secret rooms, and deadly mechanisms. Its owner monitors the guests’ movements and gradually turns the investigation into a cruel ordeal. The heroes will have to look for a way out, study the building’s structure, and make decisions under constant pressure. At the same time, the main danger lies not only in the killer himself, but also in the mistrust that arises between people who find themselves in isolation.

The story centers on five characters: the film crew leader Charlie Lonnit, the host Kate Wilder, the cameraman Mark Nestor, the lighting specialist Jamie Tiergan, and the sound engineer Erin Keenan. Each has their own personality, professional skills, and attitude towards what is happening. During the playthrough, the player switches between the characters, controls their actions, and determines how they will react to the danger. Any of the main characters can die, and the decisions made can change the further development of the story.
