Like its predecessor, UFC 5 is a fighting game based on the mixed martial arts promotion, Ultimate Fighting Championship, "Ultimate Fighting Championship" (UFC). There are 229 unique fighters and 81 alternative versions. The game features a career mode that was designed as an "adaptation experience" to teach the player the basics of four MMA disciplines, including boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and jiu-jitsu. The goal of the career mode, which allows players to create their own fighter, is to become a G.O.A.T. (which stands for "the greatest of all time"). As the game progresses, players can accept or reject fights, which will affect the development of a fighter's career. Multiplayer modes will also be available, including blitz fights and online world championships. In addition to fighting in the Octagon, players can also fight in the Backyard and in kumite, which resembles an underground fighting arena. New features include an improved damage system, doctor stops, and new animations.
