The Knights of the Mediterranean expansion brings a wealth of new content to Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, including the addition of the Italian and Maltese civilizations, a brand-new casual, friendly Tycoon mode, and the first-ever set of historical maps that provide endless Replayability with a historical twist.
2 New Civilizations
• Malta:
Defend the Mediterranean from invasions with unique fortifications, don gleaming armor to repel attacks, and bombard enemies from afar with stationary guns. Flamethrowers and two-handed swords win battles, but the superior logistics of your command wins wars. Luckily, you can have both! Fighting the Order's galleys at sea may leave you short on gunpowder, but your crossbowmen won't mind. You can always replenish your gunpowder depot or detonate it when an enemy army passes by!
• Italy:
Unite wealthy merchant republics, duchies, and Papal States as new settlers flock to your thriving empire with every technological breakthrough, and use your architects to construct buildings for free! Invest in a Pawnbroker to optimize your economy and reap quick profits, or build a majestic basilica and dispatch papal soldiers to strengthen and bolster your army. Use shielded pavisiers to lure opponents into a Bersaglieri ambush, or let Elmetti lower his spears and end the day with a devastating charge!
An All-New Tycoon Game Mode
Tycoon is an all-new casual game mode that emphasizes economic superiority over military dominance. Free from the constraints of head-to-head play, this new mode allows players to explore and refine economic strategies that they can then use in other Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition game modes.
First-Ever Historical Maps
Historical Maps are a new type of random map. Randomly generated for endless replayability, these 8 new maps delve into the history of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition with unique objectives for each map based on some of the most memorable conflicts on the European continent.
